Old Poems

Starting my sophomore year of high school and going through the end of my junior year, I was faced with many obstacles.  I was in the middle of a very unhealthy relationship and I was struggling with an eating disorder.  I am happy and blessed to say that I no longer face any of those issues, but these are a couple of the many poems I wrote to help me cope.

 Cascade

When you’ve said the same words for the hundredth time
And he still doesn’t listen tongues start to get tied
You beg and you plead for some kind of reply
He watches you bleed and ignores your heard cry

Pick up the phone and listen to me
Don’t leave me stranded like a ship set at sea
Hear my words and don’t be afraid
To say what you feel; a sudden cascade

You sit in silence in the dark all alone
Hiding under the covers the reason unknown
You try and think of something to say
Your thoughts and opinions seem to rot and decay

Pick up the phone and listen to me
Don’t leave me stranded like a ship set at sea
Hear my words and don’t be afraid
To say what you feel; a sudden cascade

Your eyes grow small and you cant seem to speak
You hold back the tears, he cant know you're weak
The phone runs dead and so does your heart
Time has ripped through it and torn it apart

Youre left by yourself all alone in a room
No one to save you; just you and your tomb
Your eyes flash back, you shed one last tear
The ending is now, its finally here

Pick up the phone and listen to me
Don’t leave me stranded like a ship set at sea
Hear my words and don’t be afraid
To say what you feel; a sudden cascade

Broken Girl

There is a girl with a smile in the center of the room
She feels so loved so you would assume
She puts on a smile and walks out the door
Put together on the outside, on the inside shes torn

So many people ask her for advice
But when it comes to herself the basics suffice
So surrounded by people yet so alone
She might have tried to fix it if only shed known
Day after day she fakes her way on
Until one sad morning she doesnt wake to see dawn
The news is out, the world sheds a tear
If only shed known how many loved her down here
